The Snowies is the nickname for the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. It has the tallest mountain, Mt. Kosciuszko, in the mainland of Australia. It is a nice place to visit as a family as well as a professional skier. It has two main ski resorts - Thredbo and Perisher, the latter being the largest Ski resorts in the southern hemisphere.

The valleys experience large natural snowfall during the month of June, July and early August and snow melts by late spring. Although the region receives natural snowfall during winter, the resorts some time create artificial snow as well using the snow machines. People all over Australia come here during the winter as the resorts cater for Skiing, Snowboarding, Tobogganing, etc.
